Texas is home to about 800 businesses and organizations
participating in U.S. EPA’s ENERGY STAR program:
114 manufacturers of ENERGY STAR certified products
65 companies supporting independent certification of ENERGY
STAR products and homes
273 companies building ENERGY STAR certified homes, 19 of
which are committed to building 100% ENERGY STAR,
as well as many businesses, schools, governments, and faith-
based groups using ENERGY STAR to reduce energy waste.
Across Texas
3 million customers were served by ENERGY STAR
utility partners in 2018
17,162 buildings (more than 1.9 billion square feet) were
benchmarked in 2018 using EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio
Manager
521,418 homes have earned the ENERGY STAR
2,995 buildings have earned the ENERGY STAR for
superior efficiency, including 1277 schools, 47 hotels, 25
hospitals, 983 office buildings and 13 industrial plants.

A sampling of Hines’ ENERGY STAR certified buildings in Texas
save more than $49 million in energy costs annually.
CenterPoint Energy, a utility serving the greater Houston area
and ENERGY STAR partner since 2001, saved more than
40,000 megawatt hours (MWh) in 2016, equivalent to the
electricity use of more than 2,900 homes and increased demand
savings by 18 percent compared to 2015 levels.
