Founded by visionary Dr. S. B. Mujumdar in 1971 as
an International Cultural and Educational Centre,
Symbiosis provides a 'home away from home' to a
large number of students, including foreign students
who come to Pune in pursuit of higher education.
Living up to its name, which is a botanical term
meaning 'living together for mutual benefit', Symbiosis
has grown over the past five decades into a family of
more than 48 academic institutions, providing
education from Kindergarten to Post Graduation.
Symbiosis Open Education Society has established
India's first Skill Development Universities at Pune
and Indore respectively.
Today, Symbiosis International (Deemed University)
is one of the India's Top Deemed Universities
(established after 2000) and is known in India and
abroad as one of the best educational institutes
imparting quality education in various fields such as
Management, Law, Computers, Health Care, Arts
and Commerce.
Symbiosis: 52 Years of
Excellence in Education
Dr. S. B. Mujumdar was conferred Padma Bhushan in 2012
and Padma Shree in 2005 in recognition to his significant
contribution to the field of Education.
st
Distance learning is the education of the 21 century. The
traditional method of teaching in a classroom, called brick
and mortar education, has failed to reach millions of those
thirsty for getting knowledge, in an age marked by
Knowledge Revolution. Open and online learning fulfils this
need.
Symbiosis, which is always on the vanguard of making bold
innovations, has established Symbiosis Centre for
Distance Learning (SCDL) to offer different academic
programs through distance education. Symbiosis Centre
for Distance Learning (SCDL) is a centre of excellence
offering quality distance education. I am sure those who
aspire to acquire education at a time and place of their
choice will be immensely benefited and will be qualified to
fill posts of their choice with credit and confidence. I wish
the Centre success.

In Indian Armed Forces, my key role is to lead & manage Men, Money and

better leader and a manager where I can relate and apply myself in most
of the day-to-day work. The Learning Material of SCDL was written in a
very lucid manner and was easy to understand & comprehend. The exam

Overview
Instructional design is the process of converting
information into rich learning content, using
established learning theories. It is a systematic
process that involves analysing learner profiles and
training needs, organising information according to
established standards and creating learning plans
and content to achieve specific goals. Traditional
training methodology focuses on a predominantly
one-way transfer of information. The theories of
instructional design, however, focus on a result-
oriented learning approach in which the users are
able to achieve specific goals in a given environment.
It is primarily used to develop computer based and
web-based content.
PGDID program provides basic theoretical and
practical skills needed to design, deliver and evaluate
courseware. Students explore the theories of
Instructional Design through reading, viewing
e-learning modules and practical applications. The
program aims at acquisition of professional
qualification in Instructional Design as well as
self-enrichment and improvement of job-related
skills.

Overview
In today’s stressful life, it is very common to see
people fall sick, not physically but mentally. They

Psychosocial counselling is the process of
counselling an individual, family, or group during one
or more sessions to support the process of
overcoming environmental, emotional, or social
problems that are affecting the health and well-being.
Counselling psychology is a discipline within
professional psychology, focused on improving
personal and relational functioning in all spheres of
life. It cuts across vocational, emotional, educational,
social, he alth-rela ted, organizati onal , and
developmental needs. They work to reduce
psychological distress and promote the well-being of
individuals. Counsellors will focus on treatment to
help the people who are in discomfort. Counselling is
not just a chance to sit and talk; your whole mind-set
can be changed and refreshed by doing so. Instead of
seeing the person as a problem, counselling focuses
on seeing the problem as a whole and to treat the
person wholesomely.
This one-year course will help the student to counsel
the people to overcome environmental, emotional, or
social problems and treat them wholesomely.
